Birch December 24 - January 20

A shaman arrives at the critical point in a battle.

The shaman represents your inner knowings. At a critical  point in a struggle with yourself this month, your inner voice, your very own shaman will speak softly to you. In ancient times battles stopped to allow the shaman to speak. This month, will you do the same?

Rowan January 21 - February 17

Sheep munching contentedly on their cud.

A month of relaxation and contentment. The work has been done, the effort put in. Now is the time to enjoy the fruits of that work. Sheep chewing cud are extracting the last of the goodness from their feed. Yet they generally lie down to do this. You must take the last ounce of enjoyment from the work you done and the goals you have reached. Enjoy!

Ash February 18 - March 17

Wolves at the door offer protection from illness.

That which society sees as a negative will, this month, bring you protection and safety. The wolves at the door have not come to attack but to defend. Allow them to do their work this month.

Alder March 18 - April 14

Hard of heart, hard of mind.

The mind, the heart, the person are all one. This month be open to a deeper interpretation of the people around you. Despite appearances, the heart is the reality of each of us. Remember this as you re-assess yourself and others you meet this month.

Willow April 15 - May 12

Sails filling with a fresh breeze drive the boat forward.

After a period of being becalmed which was a time for thoughtfulness, you are starting to move again. The time for rest is over, tend the sails, hold the tiller firm, you are on your way!

Hawthorn May 13 - June 9

Driving cattle through the sea to a nearby island.

The cattle represent your power and the island their summer feeding grounds. The cattle are going there to feed as they carry their calves. This is a month of gestation. Things are moving, slowly at first but with growing pace. Use this month to ensure your power is to be used wisely.

Oak June 10 - July 7

A square of light in the centre of a stone circle.

The dawning of a new year in the depths of winter is the image associated with this month's key statement. The light grows from within the circle, this month the new beginning begins. Enjoy the inner warmth this brings. 

Holly July 8 - August 4

A sliver plate and a golden apple.

The silver of the feminine and the gold of the masculine combined is the theme for this month. Be you of either gender, we all carry both parts within. Reflect upon this and see the inner power that comes from this union. 

Hazel August 5 - September 1

Little flowers adorn the head of a young girl.

A young girl, an aspect of the Goddess, at the beginnings of life's journey. The flowers are the gifts of the Goddess. As she rewards herself so she rewards each of us. That which is new will be rewarded this month. That which you have been growing will be rewarded this month.

Bramble September 2 - September 29

A broken rudder is repaired at sea.

Along the way of each life catastrophes occur. We can become rudderless and lost. This month you repair your guidance system, you are able to again navigate your way. Underway again you will feel the sense of purpose that comes from having a direction.

Ivy September 30 - October 27

A shield wall of stout men.

You will feel you are under attack this month. Assailed from all sides, you will need to rely on your support networks. There is strength in these networks and you will be surprised by who stands at your side ready and able. You will survive with a sense of greater strength.

Reed October 28 - November 24

There are provisions a plenty for the many honoured guests.

That which you have stored up will now be used. The honoured guests will be sustained by your hospitality. From this will flow many benefits. Do not be tight fisted this month.

Elder November 25 - December 23

Driving rain and mud under foot.

This is a month for persistence. Driving rain and mud under foot make for difficult marching but march you must. Simply put one foot after another and focus on nothing else. This way you will have made tremendous advances come month's end.
